In the Bahamas, the Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell makes statements about aid and LGBT equality even as the Nassau Guardian reports that Gays recall fears of living in the Bahamas

In Belize, UNIBAM writes about How Self censorship, threats and negotiations undermine rights.



In Trinidad & Tobago, the discussions on Constitutional Reform included the debate about gay rights in the constitution.  Colin Robinson from CAISO was able to explain in a TV programme.

Colin Robinson also wrote in the Guardian about Rights, Child Molesters and the Constitution.

In Trinidad as well, the Vatican Representative urged Catholics to shun the gay debate even as a Catholic priest Father Stephen Geofroy urges that T&T must enshrine BASIC dignity of all human beings  .  Trinidadian artist Leroy Clarke makes some comments about how Homosexuality Fuels Crime. There are many responses including this one from the Victim Support Unit.

The University of the West Indies St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies Faculty of Law held a Public Lecture on Human Rights by Robert Wintemute Professor of Human Rights Law King's College, University of London "Lesbian and Gay Human Rights in the Caribbean: Would Decriminalization Restrict Religious Freedom?" on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014

Queer Archives TT - Caribbean IRN Update July to December 2024

  Queer Archives TT The Queer Archives of Trinidad and Tobago is a project to develop a repository of Trinidad and Tobago's queer history.  The archives feature two collections  - The Cyrus Sylvester Digital Collection ; and the Timeline of LGBTQI+ Westory .  The lead organisation is  CAISO: Sex & Gender Justice and there is an interdisciplinary project team The archives were launched in October 2024 and will continue to grow. Pride - Caribbean IRN Update - May, June, July, August, September 2023

Composite Image derived from Left - Cuba Conga 2023 Yamil Lage/AFP , Right - Barbados Pride from Barbados Today   Pride A conga against homophobia and transphobia was held in Cuba in May 2023 , returning for the first time since 2018.     Pride Month in June was commemorated by Pride Barbados , concluding in a march.  The Guyana Pride Festival was held in June and included the Pride Parade .   In July,  Pride Parade was held in Cayman Islands and in Martinique Pride Trinidad and Tobago was celebrated in July. St Lucia Pride Week was held in August for the fifth time. Pride Week in Belize was held in August., around the anniversary of the Court ruling which struck down the sodomy laws in Belize. The theme for Bermuda Pride was 'Homecoming'. Pride Ja was celebrated in August in Jamaica.  The Pride March in Guadelope had six persons.  The US Embassy in Bahamas raised the Pride Flag, and US Vice-President Kamala Harris reportedly e...
